Construction Site Inspector / Assistant Construction Supervisor – Mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) Systems and Commissioning Technician
Location: Verona – with travel across Italy
Company: Planex S.r.l., an engineering company specialized in complex building services and green building for industrial, pharmaceutical, historic-monumental buildings, healthcare facilities, hotels, and sustainable developments.
Role description
We are seeking a technician with 5–6 years of experience in mechanical/HVAC systems for the role of Construction Site Inspector and Assistant Construction Supervisor, with responsibilities also in testing, inspection, and commissioning activities.
The selected candidate will support the Construction Supervision team and the Commissioning Engineer in the technical control of works, in managing non-conformities, and in verifying that contractors comply with the design, technical specifications, and contractual deadlines, as well as in carrying out the tests and inspections necessary to bring systems to their intended operating conditions.
Main responsibilities
- On-site verification of the proper execution of mechanical/HVAC systems in accordance with the design and contract.
- Technical review of shop drawings and material submittals, management of submissions and approval progress.
- Planning, participation in, and reporting of inspections, functional tests, and commissioning activities.
- Preparation of inspection reports (technical and photographic) and updating of the non-conformity Issue Log.
- Monitoring corrective actions required from contractors and supporting the evaluation of technical variations.
- Contribution to knowledge capitalization through reports and short technical articles for the internal knowledge base.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or degree in HVAC, energy engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- At least 5–6 years of experience on construction sites involving HVAC and mechanical systems (tertiary, industrial, corporate, or similar sectors).
- Ability to read executive and as-built drawings, with basic knowledge of technical standards and construction site safety regulations.
- Experience in construction supervision/assistant supervision, testing, and functional performance verification of systems.
- Good command of IT tools (Office package, document management systems) and aptitude for technical reporting.
Soft skills
- Accuracy, reliability, and respect for deadlines.
- Autonomy within one’s technical scope and ability to involve the Construction Supervisor and Project Manager in complex decisions.
- Problem-solving attitude and ability to work in a team with designers, contractors, and clients.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills in technical-professional environments.
Preferred qualifications
- Specific experience in systems commissioning.
- Knowledge of tools for issue management and knowledge base systems (e.g., Asana, Help Juice).
- Basic technical English.

Senior Head of Mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) Systems Design
Location: Verona

Role purpose
To lead the design of mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) systems for complex projects, coordinating the team (Sprint Leaders and designers) and ensuring compliance with technical requirements, timelines, budgets, and regulations, in accordance with principles of ethics, transparency, and absence of conflicts of interest.
Main responsibilities
- Initial project setup with early definition of key system constraints: technical spaces, routing, requirements for structural and architectural design, and budget parameters (loads, clearances, aesthetics, thermal boundaries, etc.). Organization and coordination of the mechanical design team and interface with the Project Manager, other disciplines, and the Client’s technical representatives.
- Preparation and updating of the Basis of Design, planning of deliverables according to MoSCoW logic, monitoring of progress, quality, and consistency of outputs.
- Periodic and final design reviews.
- Definition of system typologies, architecture of plants/substations/networks, equipment lists, and main operating parameters.
- Multidisciplinary coordination (architectural, structural, electrical, fire protection, sustainability) and management of external consultants.
- Preparation of technical reports, calculation reports, bills of quantities, specifications, and budget estimates; final verification of outputs prior to delivery.
- Knowledge capitalization through contributions to the company Knowledge Base (Help Juice).
Requirements
- Degree in Energy, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- 8–10+ years of experience in the design of mechanical/HVAC systems for complex buildings (industrial, healthcare, office, etc.).
- Solid experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, gas, compressed air, and central heating and cooling plants; experience with advanced utilities (steam, clean utilities, clean rooms) is appreciated.
- Excellent knowledge of project phases (from feasibility to as-built), sector regulations, and design tools (CAD, Office suite, HVAC software).
